I’ve had this cute jelly roll of forest critters for such a long time and I finally had a perfect project. My brother was having his first baby and it was the perfect opportunity to use it to create this adorable baby blanket. I used up the whole roll and am so happy with the results! I love all the cute foxes, owls and mushrooms in the fabric. I am very happy I had just enough to make a baby blanket that is perfect for the newborn. I hope it will be well loved!
This lovely quilt was very different than my usual modern/bright quilts I make. This was specifically chosen for my grandma, who loves more simple and homey things. I loved the beautiful colors and the floral prints on this one. It felt so relaxing while making it as the colors all blended together into this meadow of flowers. The free motion quilting was also done in a very simple meander and a swirl for the borders. The flowers had a few loops to shape the petals and leaves. All together I think it came out beautifully and I can’t wait for my grandma to use it!
I absolutely love these batik fabrics! I had bought a big box of batik fat quarters and I finally had a great quilt to use them on. It has such a hard time choosing which to use because they were all just so beautiful. The choice was between yellow-red-brown and blue-green, and honestly I might go back and do the other set as well in the same pattern. I love how big the cobblestone rectangles are as they show the fabric so well! I did some light FMQ on each of the boxes and tried all sorts of patterns. Some more complex than others, but I tried to stagger them enough so they are always different. The borders and gaps between got a nice leafy meandering quilting on them to help bring out the subtle colors. This beauty is going to my grandma who has this color scheme in her living room. Hopefully she will love it as much as I enjoyed making it. The pattern is the Cobblestone Street by Robert Kaufman.
This was a beautiful quilt I made for a friend’s wedding. I absolutely loved working on this one! The colors were amazingly vibrant and my free-motion quilting helped make it all pop. Definitely one that I was sad to see go, but at the same time very happy that it now has a great home. I spent a long time doing a lot of details in the white section that makes subtle shadows when you look closely enough. This ended up taking a fairly long time. It was so fun to quilt, definitely one of my favorites!
What do you do with all your little scraps of fabrics? I made some of these cute little coasters after finishing some bigger quilts and they are in use around my apartment all the time! Since not much fabric is needed they can be made very quickly and were a great way to do some free-motion quilting practice. Plus the binding practice was nice too.
One of my favorite quilts I’ve made was this beautiful earth-toned pattern. The colors are amazing and I have to say I got pretty decent with my free-motion quilting. I am super proud of this one and so happy that my mom, who it went to, also loves it. It was one of the more complicated patters due to the piecing, but it all came together and looks so awesome!
This lovely quilt was made for my sister. I adore the fabric and how colorful it is! Such a cute set of prints! The whole thing just makes me happy. I got a bit more confident with my free-motion quilting as I experimented with all sorts of patterns on this one. The quilt was huge so I had lots of room to try out various things. I am super happy with how it turned out!
This was my first large scale quilt I’ve made! It was a real learning experience working with such a huge amount of fabric. I free-motion quilted it, which was a challenge all on its own. I had to get a bigger sewing machine afterwards as I had planned more and the one I had was pretty hard to work with. Overall though I am super proud of it and love how it turned out! It went to my brother as a Christmas present
I recently finished a lovely new shawl for my mom! I am so excited for her to start wearing it! I started it at the end of November, so in total it took me about 1.5 months. I almost wish i didn’t tell her about it so I could keep it for myself… It was actually a lot easier then it looked. The lace section was not at all complicated. The only problem I had was with working with such fine yarn. It was the first time I was using fingering weight yarn and it definitely took a bit of getting used to. Now that I started another project with worsted yarn it feels so bulky! Hah! If you want any more details see the project on Ravelry!
